Brownies in a Mug

Yesterday and today were both amazing days. I had the most delicious and simple creation known to microwaving kind. Brownies - in a mug! Also known as "minute brownies" or "individual brownies," they can sometimes be found as "Individual microwaved brownies in a minute!"

They are not quite the same as the good old-fashioned brownie I had over the weekend. That brownie was made from the recipe in my mother's recipe box, with the addition of some chopped walnuts and the substitution of gluten free flour mix instead of the white flour. The resulting gluten free walnut-filled chocolate heaven was practically inhaled, it was so delicious. After my mother and I finished the whole batch, I was going through brownie withdrawal. But it is very dangerous to make a whole batch of brownies twice in one week. So the minute brownie in a mug became my solution.

I found the recipe from realmomkitchen, and I've pasted it below.

  • 1 Tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 Tbsp flour
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp water
  • 1 Tbsp canola oil
  • a pinch of salt

  • There is a lot of canola oil is that recipe, so I cut it down by half. It might work with even less, or with some substitution of mashed banana or other puree.

This photo came along with the recipe, and truly shows the beauty of the brownie. I would have taken a photo of my own brownie mug, but I ate it. The brownie that is. Not the mug.

I hereby declare we shall all go forth and eat mug brownies forever.
