Georgia bound!

I mentioned this on Twitter... and facebook... and random emails I've been sending professors and friends who probably don't care at all... but I never told my awesome blog readers as blogger was down when I first got the news.

So, hold on to your seats or pants or hats or anything you have near you (hopefully you have pants).

I'm going to Georgia!

Not the country, but the state. I have a research opportunity down there and I am going to be in Athens for 9 weeks!

This is the first time I've ever been so far down south. In fact, the only other traveling I've really done is when I helped a friend move his things to Kansas with my mother, and I didn't spend a lot of time there. I'm looking forward to the research experience but also the Georgia weekends and evenings... new experiences are inspirational! So you can imagine how excited I am. I keep remembering it is happening and feeling a little thrill.

Of course, I hate packing. I hate buying clothes and figuring out what I'm going to wear and how I'm going to eat and spend my evenings (other than writing and re-watching the season of Doctor Who and studying for the MCAT). I'm absolutely terrified of using the bus system and getting completely lost on the biggest campus I've ever been on.

But powering through the different fears and anxieties is a job for the first few days. I know that. I remember how I felt when I first went to Behrend and knew nothing about the campus or the town. I found my way then and I know I'll find my way again. Those first days will lead to awesome times that I know I'll love.

So there's the update for the blog. It doesn't really cover all the emotions I'm feeling about spending my first summer away from home, but maybe it starts to.
