And... its the Holiday!

Wow. I made it. It is Christmas Eve and my 3d semester of college is finally over. January 19th starts my 4th, and my final, at my current college. At the beginning of January I'll be applying to new colleges (see below, I do love Behrend).

But this post is about Christmas! The Holiday! What traditions do you all have? My family is completely traditional, as some would call it (though... who decides what tradition is?). We get the tree up the weekend before Christmas. We buy gifts and wrap them in pretty paper and stick them under there so we can get all anxious as we stare at them and the Big Day grows near. We watch Santa Claus is Coming to Town and Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. We eat turkey. We eat pie.

Today, of course, is a jumble! I have more cleaning and cooking ahead of me then I'd care to have my first day of vacation, to say the least. My bedroom will be cleaned for the first time in weeks. This morning, we ran out for those last minute items and went to breakfast, the whole family. This was a bit of a chore, getting my little brother to agree to come with us, so I had to hold his stuffed Kenny (South Park, not barbie) doll hostage until he agreed to come.

It seems all like a lot of work. But there is magic in the air. Cleaning and cooking is somehow fun. The anticipation for tomorrow will make the day fly by, until I'm sitting in church tonight at vespers after a "traditional" seafood Christmas Eve dinner (that is Italian tradition, in case you didn't know).

So, I want to hear about your traditions! What do you do for the Holidays?
