Who Sings the Theme Song?

It's the singer who makes you think "Wow, this is who my character is like."

It's the singer who sings the song that makes you think "Wow, this is how my character thinks."

It's the the singer who gets it, and proves it through the album.

It's the singer whose work you play whenever you write those important scenes.

It's the singer who makes you think "If my WIP were a movie, this is who I want to sing the theme song."

(And who says movies are the only media that deserve theme songs? Books have them, too.)

He/she doesn't have to be your favorite artist. He/she doesn't have to be famous. But he/she does have that spark that makes you turn the volume up a notch and open Word.

For Virginity Thief, my Work In Progress, it's Katy Perry. She's got that perfect attitude in her music for Mari, my MC. I play her whenever Mari's voice starts to elude me or Mari gets difficult to understand and feel. Katy Perry brings Mari right back.
